From the CEO's Desk: Inside CATMEDIA's Past Performance and Expansion

Some of you may know the story of how CATMEDIA got started, but not as many are familiar with the amount of effort that went into the company’s evolution over the years. Starting a business from the ground up is an extremely difficult challenge to take on, and any decision to expand is a huge undertaking as well.

When I started CATMEDIA, all I had was a pad of paper and pen. With no outside financial support, I can admit that there were times when it got really frustrating. Over 20 years later, CATMEDIA is an award-winning, multi-million dollar business, but rest assured—it didn’t happen over night.

We are fueled by creative drive, innovation, and stellar past performance with numerous agencies including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

CATMEDIA is a full-service marketing firm that specializes in creative services/media production, program management, training, and human resource management.

We employ creativity to help our federal and commercial clients succeed. We support commercial clients within four verticals that operate within similar compliance requirements as our federal clients.

  • Healthcare
  • Aviation
  • Energy
  • FinTech

amyferzoco_1337034799_36[4].jpgJust a few years ago, in order to diversify and optimize the level of talent in-house, I decided to expand the company by adding two new divisions: CATMEDIA The Agency and CATMEDIA Entertainment. CATMEDIA The Agency applies our products and services to commercial clients in all four verticals shown above while CATMEDIA Entertainment specializes in the development and production of documentaries and feature films.

Recently, our entertainment division wrapped production on the company’s first feature film, Mnemosyne, marking one of the company’s most monumental achievements to date. As founder and CEO, I could not be more proud of the company’s many milestones and accomplishments over the years.

Our goal is to remain consistent in producing work of the highest quality, which is the cornerstone to our longevity. Here are a few of the company’s most notable work over the years.

Legionella Educational Videos: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

In response to New York’s legionellosis outbreak crisis of 2015, CATMEDIA scripted, produced, and animated a series of educational videos geared toward raising awareness about the illness for the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD). In the video series, CATMEDIA shed light onCM-legionella-1.png some common causes of infection, symptoms, and provided information on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Due to the diligent efforts of our expert creative team, the CDC NCIRD team was able to train their workforce and prepare within a reasonable time to effectively respond to the city’s outbreak crisis.

Technology Hangar: Federal Aviation Administration

In 2010, the FAA turned to CATMEDIA in search of a tool that would streamline their Performance Based Navigation System to achieve optimal communication within the organization. To remedy this, the CATMEDIA creative team designed, developed, and produced the “Technology Hangar,” an interactive tool that combines video, interactive design, graphics, photography, and animation in an easy to navigate multimedia presentation. The development of this interactive tool has allowed for more effective communication within the FAA and resulted in well-informed air traffic controllers and stakeholders.

Public Outreach Video: Nuclear Regulatory Commission

Working closely with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), CATMEDIA developed a public outreach video to inform and educate NRC stakeholders on various technical issues relating to power consumption. The production of this video aided the NRC in boosting safety awareness throughout the organization and offered information on safety policies and procedures.

While developing the public outreach video, CATMEDIA’s creative team engaged with energy customers to explore and understand their key concerns, thus expanding our reach in the energy market.

Online Web Training Developer: Department of Veterans Affairs

CATMEDIA developed a user-friendly multi-module training course that focused on the unique theoretical and operational aspects of major construction project funds management for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The project was designed for mixed-use learning, ranging from instructor-led workshops to web-based training. The objective was to educate stakeholders on the financial aspects of management as well as enhance their leadership and supervisory development. By working collaboratively with VA subject matter experts, developers, and other VA personnel, CATMEDIA successfully created training templates, scripts, screen displays, and animation for each module. The development of this course helped to further develop and enhance leadership skills within the VA, enhanced appropriate delegation throughout the organization, and developed greater management of organizational policies and procedures.

These are just a few examples of CATMEDIA’s past performance. In addition, we are patent-pending on several training and communications technologies.

As a company, we continue to tackle new challenges and expand our horizons. I’ve found that company growth is about finding people who appreciate both what you do and how you do it. Much of our success is due to our willingness to persistently find new customers while continuing to nurture and engage existing customers. But as I mentioned earlier, this isn’t something that just happens spontaneously.

With every step CATMEDIA takes forward, one thing has always remained constant—people are the most important. In a customer-driven business, this is something you have to continuously work at getting right. I believe you must have a team in place that understands and shares the company’s values. Each member of the CATMEDIA team brings something that is both unique and valuable to the table, and because of this we have been able to thrive. CATMEDIA prides itself on creativity, quality of products and services, exceptional customer service, innovation, and integrity. We each make a conscious decision to embody this through our work. By working together as a team and combining our individual strengths, CATMEDIA will continue to exceed client expectations time and time again.
